Standard Granite Measurement Rules in India

Full Slab Calculation

In India, commercial granite slabs are usually measured by rounding length and width to the nearest inch in favor of the seller. However, the exact mathematical area is (Length in Inches x Width in Inches) / 144 = Square Feet.

The 3-Inch Rounding Rule

For finishing work (like window framing), many suppliers round measurements up to the nearest 3 inches to account for cutting wastage. For example, a 16" width is often billed as 18". Our "Finished Cutting" mode applies this logic automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to calculate granite square feet from feet?

Multiply Length (feet) x Width (feet) = Square Feet. If you have inches, use our calculator or multiply L (inch) x W (inch) then divide by 144.

What is the difference between Slab vs Cutting measurement?

Slabs are large sheets. Cuttings are smaller pieces for stairs, platforms, and sills. Cuttings often include a 'wastage' margin (rounding up to 3 inches) which our tool calculates in "Finished Cutting" mode.

Is this calculator accurate for Marble & Italian Stone?

Yes! The mathematical area calculation for Marble, Italian Stone, Quartz, and Granite is identical across India.
